I had my first appointment today! It was with the nurse and we went over medical history and all that good stuff. I also got a bazillion tubes of blood drawn. I also got to choose whether I wanted to see doctors or a midwife! I was so excited that this was an option at the military facility! I chose a midwife and I am really happy about it! I had a midwife with Ezra for all of my prenatal care, and I just love their attitude on childbirth.
With the doctors I was going to see a different doctor each visit. With the midwife, I just see one and she is a she!=)
They also encourage natural childbirth, which I am all about and hope to be able to do with this baby. I went 22 hours with Ezra before I begged for an epidural....maybe with some coaching and being more educated I will be able to do the whole thing! Also, hopefully this labor won't be 32 hours long!
I have my first real appt where they check out the baby in 2 weeks! I can't wait to hear that little heartbeat!
You go girl... I'm too big of a wimp! I personally wanted an epidural at 20 weeks. ;) When they gave me my spinal for my c-section... Whew... That was the best I had felt in 39 weeks. But I really do admire women that can do it naturally. My mom had both my sister and I natural. God bless her! I didn't know MAMC had the midwife option. That is neat!
ReplyDeleteGo Midwife! Every delivery here is done by midwives unless you need some kind of medical intervention. Another thought, I know it would be an additional expense, but have you considered a doula? They can often help with a natural childbirth and help labor progress so you don't have to go 32 hours (shouldn't be such an issue with your second, anyway). I have a friend in Centralia who is a doula and she's the loveliest woman. Just a thought.
